International N.I.C.E. RENDEZ-VOUS
An international conference on Bio-inspiration & Biobased approaches
The International N.I.C.E. Rendez-Vous are organized with the aim of advancing and sharing the latest developments in the dynamic field of bioinspiration and biobased approaches (since 2012), while addressing emerging scientific and societal challenges through innovative, sustainable solutions.
Rooted in a multidisciplinary framework, the N.I.C.E. rendez-vous integrates expertise from chemistry, biology, physics, and materials science, offering a comprehensive overview of biomimetic strategies for engineering next-generation materials and systems.
These international Rendez-Vous are endorsed by the CNRS through GDR 2088, the Materials Research Society (MRS), the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and supported by various industrial partners through academic and professional institutions (Univ. Côte d’Azur & CFA formasup Méditerranée) . This organization is accredited as a club for UNESCO. The program is structured into three main sessions—SmartTech, NanoTech, and BioTech—covering topics such as nanomaterials, energy storage and conversion, stimuli-responsive materials, adhesive/anti-adhesive systems, functional polymers, biobased chemistry, soft matter, and their applications in energy, environmental technologies, and sustainability.
Held biannually (Summer and Winter editions) in Nice, France, the conference gathers researchers, industry leaders, innovation managers, and students from diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds. These events are specifically designed to promote international mobility for young professionals and early-career researchers, encourage cross-border exchanges, and foster collaborative innovation through multilateral and multidisciplinary projects.
The N.I.C.E. events create a unique platform for the open exchange of ideas, the discussion of current research challenges, and the co-development of sustainable, eco-friendly materials solutions with long-term societal impact.
All members of the international organizing and scientific committees are volunteers
